It’s the middle of your work week, and you’re tired of the A/C making your office feel like it’s refrigerated, and traffic noise wafting up from the street through the permanently closed windows (or maybe that’s just me). If you’ve just gotta get out and enjoy the sun, we’ve got the perfect way to spend your lunch break! Head over to the courtyard outside the entrance of Kansas City, Kansas Public Library’s Main Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., this Wednesday, June 10, at noon. Our guest performers will be Ernest James and Zydeco Jubilee.

Brown bag it and enjoy lunch while you listen, or grab a bite from Cafe 625, the library cafe operated by Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Nutritional Services. Wednesday’s special is half a dozen hot wings/ranch dressing and a canned soda for $4.25.
The second concert in the 2009 Lyrics @ the Library summer concert series will be held Wednesday, July 8, at noon, with a performance by the Rich Wheeler Quartet.

Tuesday, June 2 – baked potato bar, small salad, canned soda $5
Wednesday, June 3 – meatball sandwich, potato salad, canned soda $4
Thursday, June 4 – taco salad $4.50
Friday, June 5 – Rueben sandwich, chips, canned soda $4.25
While you’re at the cafe, be sure to browse the used book store for some gently used, right-priced books. And, browse the rest of the library, too – check out books, music CDs, DVDs and much more. Summer reading clubs kick-off this week, with programs for all ages, and no better excuse for a stack of books to read at your summer leisure!
