This mural, located at 9th and Minnesota Avenue, was a collaboration with a team of Wyandotte County high school students. The initial concept was to create a mural dealing with the history of downtown KCK. One of the students came up with the idea to use a filmstrip motif, depicting over one hundred years of history through the ever-evolving camera lense. Here Joe talks about how the project came together.

The eighth “Almost Annual” KCK Street Blues Fest will be taking place on the 27th and 28th of this month. The first festival took place in 2000, when founders Marvine McKeithen and Dawayne Gilley decided to organize a free concert in the streets of KCK.
This year the festival will take place at 13th and State Avenue, and includes performers such as Dan Bliss, Trampled Under Foot, Cadillac Flambe and Linda Shell’s Blues Thang.
